Question: Math Question HELP (please)?

During the 100 meter dash in 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea, Florence Griffin Joyner was timed at 0.91 seconds for 10 meters.
At this Speed, could she pass a car traveling 15 miles per hour in a school zone?

HINT: You must use conversion between units of measure to answer this question.

Try to SHOW all STEPS

Answer: 10 meters in .91 sec = 10 / .91 meters/second = 10.989 m/sec
1 m = 3.28 feet, so that's
10.989 * 3.28 = 36 ft/sec

1 mi = 5280 ft, 1 hr = 60 min, 1 min = 60 sec, so doing all the conversions at once:

15 mi/hr = 15 * 5280 feet / 3600 seconds ( 1 hr = 60 min * 60 sec) = 22 ft/sec

So, YES, she IS going faster than the car.
