Question: Math question need help with a word problem and getting an equation?
In a baseball league consisting of 10 teams, each team plays each other teams twice. How many games will be played?
Answer: How many teams much a given team play? There are 10 teams, each team must play 9 other teams.
10 x 9 = 90. To get the number of games if each team played each other once you would have to divide by 2 (since the game in which Team A plays Team B is the same game in which Team B plays Team A, and for any possible combination of two teams a similar duplication exists.
So, for a league of 10 teams, 45 games are required for each team to play each other once, and for each team to play each other twice you need to double this number, giving you a final answer of 90.
In fact, for any competitions where there are n teams, and they each play each other x times, then the number of matches in the competition is xn(n-1)/2.

Question: Name of an elementary school computer game?
So I'm looking for the name of this game I played when I was in 4th-5th grade (1999-2001). It was a game on the computer that was used to teach us math. It was kind of like the game "fill it". On the screen there would be a big cross in the middle. on each side of the cross (up,dwn, lft, rght) there would be a math problem. In order to turn your little "ship" you would have to type the answer to whichever way you wanted to turn and press "enter". I remember it was a program on the computer so I don't know if it'd be online. And the game was multiplayer so you could play against your friends. Whenever you'd crash into the line of another player or the wall, you'd respawn. Any idea? Or am I just crazy?
Answer: Truly I do not know; however you may check out Oregon Trail 5. It's really fun and about the travel to the west in the 1850's. I suspect that it teaches about history.
