Question: Math Problem (for smart people)?

I was having a little bit of toruble with this problem, because I am not very good with word problems. But if you can do it, then go ahead!

The Broncos have 162 games in their season. They have won 56 and lost 42. How many more games do they need to win in order to win at least 60% of all the games? Form and equation and solve.

Thanks in advance!
but then you would have to subtract 56 from 97 because it how many MORE they need.. but then it doesnt come out to 162 total.. =(

Answer: Think about it. It's actually a very easy problem.
If they need to win 60% of all of their games, all you need to do is work out what 60% of all of the games comes to i.e. 60 * 162/100 and take the difference between the answer and the number of games they've already won.

Try it.

EDIT:
I've just read your additional info. but you're forgetting that we've calculated what was needed for them to win 60% of the games to the end of the season i.e. 56 + 42 = 98 and 98 is approx. 60% of 162 so the calculation must be correct BUT the season isn't finished yet and they will play and can lose more games after this point, but as long as they win at least 42 of the remaining 64 games, their % will be at least 60%.

At the moment with the 42 that we've calculated included, it adds as: 56 (won) + 42 (lost) + 42 (must win) = 140 meaning that they can lose another 22 games out of the remaining 64 and still maintain the minimum of 60% .
