Question: who believes that the phase "never deal in absolutes" is a fawcking retarded phase?
in other words dealing with established constants, like rules to a football game or looking for finger prints to find a criminal or the number system to do math equations; you know, absolutes. I mean, If you are stupid don't deal in absolutes, for example, because i use big words means that whatever i say is sexy. Oh and now for the finally, the word "never" constitutes absoluteness -so Never deal with Nevers...
I meant Phrase not Phase!
another example of a STUPID absolute: "PS, it makes sense to try not to deal in absolutes...>>>if you kill someone its murder<<< well what if that person had a knife to your neck and then you kill them. is that murder?"... I liked mine better. to me the word means -just is, I'm thinking that all other people have the same definition and that it's different than mine. But i clearly defined what i meant in the first.
Answer: There are philosophical, scientific and practical ways of looking at the word absolute.
As for the philosophical, each of the world's major religions has its version of the absolute truth, and it differs from the absolute truth of all other religions.
As for the scientific, it was once absolutely true that the sun revolved around the Earth, and then it wasn't.
As for the practical; whatever system you rely upon for a comfortable life, be it legal, religious, political or cultural, you must choose between at least pretending that the rules are absolute and act accordingly, or be prepared to suffer the consequences of being deemed a criminal, a heretic, or a traitor.
Those who rebel at the concept of absolutes, and most young people do (except for the things that they personally believe to be absolute,) will eventually find that they are living in a world of mentality rather than intellect, and mentality rather likes the concept of absolutes- it avoids the effort of thinking.
